Cancer was difficult because:
My mental acuity suffered and I went through chemical menopause. I was physically limited by being so ill and tired.
Good things to come out of my illness:
My family and friends were there at the low points and never allowed me to hit rock bottom. I felt the presence of God throughout the whole thing. I promised him that, if he allowed me to live, I would enjoy life and appreciate the simple things. I will not take my life for granted and will not put off dreams.
Most important pieces of advice for someone diagnosed with cancer:
1) You are not alone and you do not have to go through this alone.
2) Its important to listen to your body and slow down; dont overschedule.
3) Dont waste time doing things you dont really want to do.
Why I joined MoveThroughCancer:
It was perfect timing. Just when I began thinking about needing something more than walking, I read the article about Marion in the Statesman.
How MoveThroughCancer changed my life:
Ive always exercised and worked out in health clubs, but I slowed down during treatment. Im highly motivated to exercise and care for my body. I will exercise for the rest of my life and will encourage other cancer survivors to exercise as well.
